Support » Networking WordPress » Sharing the root directory with an ecommerce package

  • I have a multisite network installed and working on the primary domain of my hosting account. Now I need to move my existing ecommerce site to the primary domain to be displayed instead of the wordpress site that is currently displaying there. I don’t need a wordpress site on the primary domain, only on the network sites.

So can the ecommerce and wordpress installations coexist in the same root folder on the primary domain? And can I just replace the index file from wordpress with the index file from the ecommerce installation?

Or is there a better solution, that isn’t too complicated?

    Thanks for your thoughts

If you replace the index.php you’ll break your subsites. Can you make your main site’s front page a splash page for the ecommerce stuff?

I considered that, but would rather have the ecommerce in the root of the domain. Is it possible to move the wordpress installation files to a subdirectory?

Hmmm. What would happen if I redirected the main site to the ecommerce site with .htaccess? Would the subsites still work?
