Support » Plugin: Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth » Share Facebook link without url in description

  • I like the Facebook sharing feature but when sharing a link it will be nicer to hide the link in the Facebook description field. Just the same as pasting a link to facebook, let Facebook parse the URL and then remove the pasted link again. This will end up with only the shared “parsed” url with image and description, instead of a double link above in the description field.

    Thanks for the report!

Could you make a screenshot of the posts as they appear to you on Facebook, and share it us via a service like http://snag.gy ?
Could you also let me know what version of Jetpack you’re running, as well as if the posts are published on a Facebook profile, or a Facebook Page?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the fast reply 🙂

What I mean is this: http://f.cl.ly/items/1w1h183y1O1G04182B3n/screenshot.png

You can try it on every page you want. There are two methods:
1 – You can paste a link, let Facebook parse it, and click publish.
2 – You can paste a link, let Facebook parse it, then delete the pasted link and click publish.

There is a plugin “Add Link 2 Facebook” that has a option for method 2. What JetPack is doing, is only method 1. But method 2 is much nicer if you have a Facebook page.

PS: Everything I run is the latest version.
