# Share counts problem

 * Hi there,
    I’ve installed this plugin and noticed share counts are not properly
   working. After some digging around I’ve found something in the log files that
   explains some of the wrong counting.
 * First of all: Facebook and LinkedIn work fine. So it’s not a cache problem. Pinterest
   and Google+ don’t work. Why? Because of this.
 * In the log files I saw how the counting is being checked. Now I use on my website
   the https protocol. That doesn’t seem to work with Google+ and Pinterest checks.
   Cause when I check them out manually I do get the right count.
 * Perhaps a little bit descriptive. Let me show you.
 * This is being checked by the plugin:

 * How can this be solved?
 * Furthermore, twitter counts don’t work at all. Why? It doesn’t matter if I check
   it with http or https … strange.

 * After some digging around in the code of this plugin, I’ve found the issue. I
   think it’s fair to share it here with you all. Cause this plugin with the networks
   add-on doesn’t work optimal for websites which use the https protocol. At least,
   not right now. They have to fix the issue first.
 * Attached my findings and the response from the Mashshare support team.
 * My message to them:
 * > I went through your code and found this part in the mashsharer/includes folder:
   > file ‘mashengine.php’. This file contains the code for counting the shares.
   > 
   > I’ve noticed you only use the http scheme check for the platforms other than
   > Facebook and Twitter. That seems to be it. The problem of not counting the 
   > shares properly.

   > Linkedin works, cause they automatically turn the http scheme into https. But
   > the others don’t.
   >  So I guess you should fix this in your plugin. That Google,
   > Pinterest, Stumbleupon, Buffer, VK also check the https scheme. Then I get 
   > my share counts.
   > And I’m curious: I couldn’t find the other platform checks (reddit, Tumblr 
   > etc.). Aren’t those checked?

 * > Thank you for the details. Yes you’re right. Before this didn’t matter except
   > for Facebook and Twitter. It seems other networks are treating SSL and non-
   > SSL pages separately. We’ll investigate this and fix it with next updates.

 * I tested it on my site and unfortunately it does not work:
    >I changed yesterday
   from http to https. >I installed your plugin (above – Version 3.3.9) and add-
   on Mashshare Social Networks Add-on after that. >It seems that fb counts are 
   alright, but pinterest-counts from http are not counted.
 * Here ist an example:
    This http post has over 1,2 k pins – the counts are not

 * cool, thank you. The counter of the site mentioned above works perfect now.
    
   It display 11,7 k Shares. For another top-pinterst site also.
 * But for this site not: it display 13 Shares

 * I have been having this same issue for a couple months. All of my posts had share
   counts until we switched to HTTPS. I updated to 3.3.9 but that did not work. 
   I then installed 3.4.0 as suggested, but still no dice.
 * The strange thing is that some posts will record a few shares, but most will 
   record 0.
