    All,

After a long break due to a supporting a family member through illness, I have finally returned to Share and Follow. Apologies to anyone who needed help during the period, I really was unable to get to you or support you, as with all honesty my family comes first over a free to own wordpress plugin. I do trust that you understand.

I’m just in the middle of making a new release of the plugin, which will be out sometime next week (15–>22 jan 2012). Also there are more icon sets on the way for the CDN.

    Kind regards
    Andy Killen

  • Hi Andy,

Sorry to hear that you family member has been ill, I hope that they are doing better now.
Good to hear that you will be working on an update that will be out soon.

I have recently installed Share and Follow and I was hoping that you might be able to help me with one small detail.

The plugin in is exactly what I needed for my website and at the moment I have the Share links set up as Text Only for Twitter, Email and Facebook showing at the bottom of my posts.

I was wondering if there is a way that I may be able to only have the text ‘Share’ appear at the bottom of the posts and once clicked it will open a small popup in a new window that displays Twitter, Email and Facebook in a list.

If you are able to suggest a way to do this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance and I look forward to your reply.
    Rob

Good to hear that everything is well with you and your family again.
While you are updating the plugin could I put in a request to add Pinterest to the list. It is the highest referral site in my niche, even outranking google search on many blogs now.

Rob, I’m working on a modal window configuration next to make share stuff turn up in a window. I might add the popup you talk of also. However speaking as to the common viewpoint on sharing, less is more. Don’t be fooled into thinking that having all options will help it be shared more. When it comes down to it Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and Foursquare are the main things to consider, to a *much* lesser extent google plus. All other share possibilities are really based on 2 factors, your audience i.e. Mixx for restaurant reviews, or your country vkontakte for russia/hyves for holland.

Marianne, I’ve not herd of Pinterest, I will take a look and try to add it.

    regards
    Andy

I agree on the Pinterest link!! I have numerous clients begging for this! The Pinterest linkbacks are growing by the day and gaining on Facebook as far as referrals go.

    From Wikipedia:

In December 2011, [Pinterest] became one of the top 10 largest social network services, according to Hitwise data, with 11 million total visits per week.[13] The next month, it drove more referral traffic to retailers than LinkedIn, YouTube, and Google+.
