Please i will like to know how shapeshift determine the exchange rate between coins, are they using USD rate of each individual coin to determine its current rate for another coin at the of coin shifting or exchange?

To answer your question: The USD rates shown in the forms in italics beneath the input boxes, are determined from the exchange rate provider that you choose under Wallets -> Rates and have nothing to do with ShapeShift.
