Support » Plugin: Jetpack by » Shapely BlogPost header Image Conflict with JetPack

  • Resolved plrsmith

I am using the WordPress Shapely theme. I have a “News” menu item which will link to individual blogposts and/or RSS news feeds. I am happy with how it looks currently . However, I would like to use the JetPack plugin, but as soon as I activate the plugin I get a large white space where the Header image would be which I cannot get rid of.
    Help Please.

    Hi @plrsmith

This could be an incompatibility issue with the theme on your site or with other plugins.

Could you try disabling all plugins on the site, and then only enable the Jetpack plugin and let me know if that white space appears.

I disabled all plugins except Jetpack and used the theme Shapely. The problem persists which suggests an incompatibility with Shapely which is strange as the theme recommends the installation of JetPack?! The white space would appear to be a placeholder for a header image/featured image which is not displayed.
Any ideas how I can remove this?

Hi there, thanks for trying that out!

Shall we also rule out any theme-related conflict just to stay on the safe side?
You can try to temporarily switch your theme to Twenty Sixteen and see if the problem persists. You’re welcome to use the Theme Switcha plugin to do that:

This plugin let you change themes without it affecting the way users see your site.

Let me know what you find out, and we’ll take it from there. Thanks for sorting this out with us 🙂

    Thank you
I have tried this using the Health Check plugin. With just the theme and the JetPack plugin installed I get different effects dependent on the theme (as one would expect). The Twenty 16 theme does not give white space but instead fills this with a header image and a “category” banner. Other themes do similar things, sometimes header plus category in a column sometimes just category etc., etc. Shapely gives just white space where the header and category are displayed in other themes.

Thanks for testing that for us!
At this point, my best suggestion is to reach out to the theme author and ask whether they have a solution to fix that for you. They’re the ones who better know the theme and its code 🙂

Let me know if there’s anything else we can do to help!
