# sftp not working

 * Things have been working fine, but not I need to switch to sftp for the backup
   file storage and I cannot get it to work.
 * Gets here:
    [03-Apr-2017 19:04:27] 1. Try to send backup file to an FTP server…
 * and then this:
    ERROR: Cannot connect to FTP server: servernamexyz:22
 * I have 5 sites on different hosts all trying to back up to the same SFTP site
   and none are working. I have confirmed the SFTP setting with WinSCP.

 * Hi,
 * As far as I know, BackWPup does not support SFTP. It supports FTPS (FTP over 
   SSL), but not SFTP over SSH. You’re trying to connect on port 22, which is an
   SSH port.

 * SFTP will become a future feature in BackWPup. I hope that’s ok for you. Since
   we can’t give you a better answer right now and you know what the problem is,
   I hope you don’t mind, that I put this ticket as resolved, since now you know
   why SFTP is not working.
