  • Hi SwansonPhotos, we are working on resolving some critical issues and should be back up very soon. Thanks so much for your patience!

I have deactivated on all my sites until someone from WordPress tells me why it was removed from availability on WordPress.

There is definitely issues here. I’ve noted that there is compatibility problem on my site as well. But I did not deactivated it yet unless it’s a serious critical security issue.

Somebody definitely need to inform here.

SwansonPhotos – You’re barking up the wrong tree.

WordPress hosts the plugins, provided the plugin follows all the guidelines in the development agreement. If they’re removed the ONLY person to whom this will be reported is the plugin dev. Usually it’s due to critical bugs, or because the dev asked.

The person you should be pestering is the developer, not WordPress.

Please stop posting ‘Silence is Golden’ as you’re spamming the forums.

shareaholic already said as much as they did, and they’re not obligated to tell you any more.

As shareaholic says there are issues that need to be resolved. And please take Ipstenu’s advice.

OK, Ipstenu, it just doesn’t normally take so long to get a response from a mod when the modlook tag is added…which I see has been removed now also.

I shall delete this plugin from all my sites as I am not ‘obligated’ to use it.

I see Mark already posted this also.

@swansonphotos @euthenics apologies for not responding earlier. It was late Saturday night/early Sunday morning here in the US when these posts came in.

You can put your mind at ease — there are no security issues whatsoever with the plugin.

On closer examination, we could have better communicated a few of the plugins features in the directory listing and plugin dashboard, which we’re taking corrective steps to do so now. As soon as we’re ready with the new release with these changes, we should be back in the directory soon! In the meantime, there is no security risk to continue using the existing plugin.

We pour our hearts and countless hours into the development and support of SexyBookmarks and only have the best intentions. We really appreciate your feedback and, I hope, your continued support.

@euthenics if you’d like, please do reach out with any compatibility or other problem that you may have with the plugin on your site. We’ll be glad to take a look and assist! We’re here to help.

Spamming the modlook tag is a fast track to being flagged as a spammer. Tag it. The mods will be alerted RIGHT AWAY of ALL POSTS in the thread. All. That means the more you spam, the more we have to read through to figure out what’s going on. (And we ALWAYS remove modlook as soon as one mod has taken a look and made a decision what to do – so we don’t get spammed more.)

Remember, please: Forum mods are not plugin mods 🙂 We can only tell you the basics. Other people can tell you more, but they don’t have to unless there is a security violation (which if its huge, history tells me someone will step in and alert people).

Report plugin violations and address questions of ‘where did my plugin go?’ to plugins[at]wordpress.org

Address questions of ‘Hey, dude, where did YOUR plugin go’ to the developer, either via the forums or private email if you have it.

And please be patient. 8 hours ago a lot of us were asleep or NOT online 😉

Just a further note on this plugin that is still no longer listed on .org plugins…I did remove the plugin, but noticed later a ‘shareaholic’ folder in the uploads folder on each site that sexybookmarks was installed into…the date the folder was created was the date of the uninstall…I removed the folder(s) and am now reviewing if any further litter was left behind…

Anyone have anything further on this plugin also leaving files or entries in the database behind?

Is there any testing of these plugins by .org related to deactivation and deletion? I would think it would be required that ALL plugins listed uninstall properly – always…period.

Agreed! Has WP responded to this anywhere else? Also, it’s been 2 months since sharaholic replied. Is there an ETA on the update? Does anyone know of an alternative that looks as nice?

There is currently no testing of plugins submitted to wordpress.org other than to ensure that they comply with Plugin_Submission_and_Promotion.

We’re back with our *biggest* update ever!! Lots of goodies including Google Plus, Pinterest, Google Analytics Social Tracking and much much more.
