  • Hello,
    I tried to figure this out on my own, but reading about multisites, I am not sure if that is exactly what I need.
    I have one WordPress Site built on There are 5 other domains on the same hosting (strato). All of the 5 domains are supposed to show the exact same site I built.
    That would be easy with just redirecting them to the

    Problem is that the client wants to have the different urls shown. That means, instead of always showing he wants, and also for each page instead of he wants
    How can I achieve this? I am quite new to all this. Thanks in advance

  • Hi,
    WordPress multisite setup is not required for you since you intend to display same content in all domains. This can be done using WordPress plugins. Before installing the plugins, you’ll need to do the following.

    1. Link all 5 domains to your hosting server as Aliases. If your hosting server user cPanel, this can be done under the Aliases section.
    2. Make necessary changes to the Nameserver of the domain’s to link with your hosting server.

    After the above steps are completed, you can install & configure any of the following plugins to display content with separate URL’s.
    Multiple Domain Mapping on Single Site
    Multiple Domain

    Let me know whether the above steps works for you.
    Good day!

    Thank you for your quick response!I am not sure about the aliases, the hosting server does not use cPanel and I cannot figure out how to do that. I have internal redirections for the five domains to the wordpress installation.All the domains are on the same hosting server. Can I install the plugin now?
    Thanks and greetings

    Yes. Install any one of the plugin.

    ok i installed the Multiple Domain Mapping on Single Site. How can I change the url’s of the single pages now?

    Go to Tools->Multidomain and add each domain name in the used domain field & save.
    Check whether this works.

    Well, the homepage works. For example, redirects to
    BUT it won’t work with clicking on the menu items. The old url is showing. I tried adding the single pages to the plugin, but doesn’t work. Any suggestions?

    Did you try the second plugin? Multiple Domain

    Unfortunately it is not compatible with my theme.

    There is another way. But it not recommended.

    Edit the file wp-config.php and add the following lines just after $table_prefix section.

    define('WP_SITEURL', 'http://' . $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']);
    define('WP_HOME', 'http://' . $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']);

    Remove the multidomain plugin & try this method.

    Thank you for your help, I decided to use frameset redirections as I had doubts to put the code above in the site. Thanks again

    The code i gave, uses the domain of current request as the Site & Home URL of WordPress.

    So if you access from domain 1, the site url will be domain 1. Same for other domains that are linked to the same website.

    You could always remove the code when needed.

    Anyway it’s your call whether to use it or not.

    Good day!
