# Setup failed

 * Hello,
    I’m have installed the woo commerce plugin. But when i go to the dashboard
   and the setup wizard I got this message “There was a problem updating your preferences.”
   And I can go on the second step.
 * Any idea to solve this problem.

 * Does this still happen with just [WooCommerce](https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce/)
   and the [Storefront](https://woocommerce.com/storefront/) theme active to rule
   out any conflicts?
 * Also, does this happen if you switch browsers? What if you uninstall and install
   a fresh copy of WooCommerce?

 * I tried with a basic theme and wizard setup work.
    Change for my theme and everything
   seems to work now.

 * Hi there,
    Can you please give us a bit more detail about the problem you are
   experiencing. In your first answer you say that you were able to work through
   the setup wizard using a basic (default) theme and that it all worked fine with
   your own theme. Now you are having problems again.
 * Issues like this may be caused by either a conflict with your theme or with another
   plugin. You can read more about plugin and theme conflicts here:

 * The best way to determine if the issue is being caused by a theme and/or plugin
   is to do the following:
 * 1. Temporarily switch your theme back to the Storefront ([https://www.woocommerce.com/storefront/](https://www.woocommerce.com/storefront/))
   or TwentyNineteen ([https://wordpress.org/themes/twentynineteen/](https://wordpress.org/themes/twentynineteen/))
   Theme.
    2. Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce. 3. Test to see if the 
   issue has been resolved.
 * If that resolves the issue, then one-by-one you can switch back your theme and
   re-enable your plugins, testing in between, until you find the one causing the
   conflict.
