Thanks. No idea so far. I’m afraid I’m not sure what settings you’re referring to. Dashboard > Settings > Qwizcards changes take effect when you click “Save changes”. Refreshing that page or any page or finishing a stack of flashcards should have no effect. Can you indicate what you’re seeing, step by step?
Hi! Thanks for the quick reply. What happens is I go to Dashboard > Settings > Qwizcards and, for example, switch “Enable/disable full-screen from “Enabled” to “Disabled.” The change takes effect, but “Disabled” reverts back to “Enabled” as soon as I go through a stack of cards and start over, or, as I said, if I simply hit refresh on my browser. This is true for ALL of the settings. I also tried turning off the Icon/Link; I tried changing the names on the buttons. For each, the change only stays in effect until the browser is for any reason refreshed.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
BTW: Another symptom is that the original selection reappears in the option box as soon as I hit “Save.” For example, if I choose “Disabled,” that selection only remains in the selection box until I hit save. As soon as the WP is finished saving, “Enabled,” which is the default, reappears. Again, this is true for ALL of the options I have tried.
This is not a good sign! When I “Save changes” I see a message at the top, “Settings saved”, and the new settings are shown.
Why this isn’t working for your install is mysterious. I’ve tried to search for the issue; I’ve found some things pointing to the versions of PHP and WordPress installed on the server; I wonder if there’s anywhere else you can try installing Qwizcards?
Hi. I’m running WP 4.6.1 and PHP 5.6.26 on a SiteGround server. I don’t have access to any other install of WP.
Thanks again for your help.
Are you seeing the “Settings saved” message?
I am. But the actual values revert back to the default at the same time.
Do you have other plugins with options that update — and stick — correctly?
Assuming the answer is yes, I’m still mystified. The only thing I can think of is that you’d have to give me administrative access to your site, which might give me a chance of finding what’s going wrong inside the plugin. I can understand that’s a lot to ask! You can contact me privately at dan_kirshner <at> yahoo.com
Hi. Actually, I have tons of other plugins and have never had this issue with any of them. Although, it makes me wonder if this problem is a conflict with one of the other plugins? For the time being, I have actually solved the problem by manipulating the functions in the .js files that control the settings I wanted to change. So I guess I’ll live with that for now. I’ll let you know if anything else goes awry. Thanks a lot for your offer to help. I really appreciate it. Again, a great plugin you have here!
