I tried re-saving settings on 3 different sites after updating to WP 6.1. Save button does nothing to update plugin settings. Hoping for a quick developer fix.

    Hi,

Out of curiosity, are you running any browser extensions? Can you try incognito mode to see if saving works?

Secondly, please open the browser’s console, then save your settings. Do you see any console errors? If so please paste them here.

Lastly, can you be specific in your description of what happens–i.e. do you see the usual confirmation popup after saving but the settings don’t take, or, are you saying literally nothing happens at all, even the confirmation popup doesn’t occur etc.?

    Thanks!

No extensions and did with incognito too. Not the browser. No confirmation popup at all. Here’s the console error:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'triggerSave')
        at window.savevalidate (admin.php?page=youtube-my-preferences:2000:60)

Sounds like your sites are having issues with tinyMCE. On the YouTube plugin’s settings page, the “Defaults” tab, if you scroll all the way to the bottom, there should be a big rich text box with formatting buttons. What do you see? Please take a screenshot of it and post a link here. You can use a tool like this: https://snipboard.io/

    Thanks!

The issues began AFAIK with the 6.1 WP update. I was always able to save preferences before. Under “Not Live” Fallback Content: there is a formatting box and options which are lightly greyed out but useable which means I can click on the buttons and enter text in the box.

Additionally, I was able to save on some sites and not save on others.

Did you test this version on 6.1?

We actually test on 6.1 before it comes out, as well as after. In our tests, we cannot reproduce your issue nor do we get that tinyMCE error (which is the actual root cause of your issue).

For your site to have the tinyMCE variable undefined is a bit strange since it’s part of WordPress core.

    1. Are there any other console errors aside from that one?: Open the console first, then refresh the page, try to save, then send a full list of console errors.
    2. You mentioned that you were able to save on some sites–are those sites also running 6.1?
    3. Did you update other stuff aside from our plugin and WordPress itself (i.e. other plugins, your theme etc.)?
    4. If you disable each of your plugins one at at time and try to save (you can re-enable each after each save attempt), does the saving work while one of your plugins are disabled? If so, which one?

Rather than going through all that trying to debug something which worked fine elsewhere, I simply uncheckd the “save settings with Ajax” box under Compatibility. Settings save fine now. I just don’t get that funky settings popup window after saving. But they DO stick now.

Ok sounds good. Do you mind at least answering question #2 and/or 3 in case it can help others?

It’ll help determine if this is actually specific to something on a subset of your sites, or if it is indeed widespread for users.

    Sure thing. See below:

“You mentioned that you were able to save on some sites–are those sites also running 6.1?”

=> Yes, all are running WP 6.1

“Did you update other stuff aside from our plugin and WordPress itself (i.e. other plugins, your theme etc.)?”

=> The only update required and completed was that to update WP to 6.1. I thin the last update to your plugin was done several days ago.
