I’m looking to set up tiles on a magazine site

I currently have tiles on the front page displaying content from all categories. I would like to have tiles on other pages displaying only content from a specific single category.

For example – if user navigates to ‘interviews’ the page will display only tiles from the interview category.

Can anyone help with this? Preferably a shortcode solution 🙂

Thank you so much for this excellent plugin

    Hi there,

Why are you looking for a shortcode solution specifically? The template solution is much better and not hard to implement 🙂 If you don’t have a child theme yet, it’s quite simple to set up (may take some time getting your head around if it’s your first time). You would then simple change your category.php to use the_loop_wp_tiles(), as per the FAQ.

To use the shortcode, make a page for your category and throw the category id into the shortcode like this:

    [wp-tiles posts_query='category=1']

Where you change 1 to the category id.

    Good luck!

As a additional tip, for finding the category id, it’s not the name of the category it’s a number you can find it in the url of the category page…

    [wp-tiles posts_query=’category=name’]
    doesn’t work.

but if you click on your category and look at the url:

    it’s the ID =8
    [wp-tiles posts_query=’category=8′]

    works a treat!

Maybe that plugin will do the trick for you :

    Post Tiles

There is a manual way as i can recall but i haven’t use it for ages. If you want i’ll try to find it and post it here!
