• i have the latest version of php installed. and wordpress is up and running, however i cannot get the email feature to work. where if i forget my password i could reset it. how do i set up the email function?

  • How did you install WP? Through Fantastico or manually? Either way, you are prompted for an email address. That email address is what WP uses to send password reset requests and comment notifications.

    If you have access to PHPMyAdmin, you can go to the database and look to see what the email address is and change it if need be. Then go back to the login panel and request a new password. It should then go to whatever email address you set there.

    I must have missed this during the setup… what table and field is this stored. the only email and mail server information posted via the admin interface is for posting pages from email…. this works by the way.. but no email is getting sent out.

    It’s in options in the database; access it via PHPMyAdmin. It asks you to provide an email address (different from your SMTP settings it wants) during the setup process.
