[resolved] Setting up a stock photo website search form (6 posts)

I am trying to set up a small stock photo website and I would like people to be able to search for images based on keywords (tags) and then return the results in the form of a image gallery. Will the planned advanced search extension be able to return results in the form of a gallery of images much like a regular stock photo site?

    Hi @wilburwolf,

Yes, it will. That said, Sell Media already comes with a shortcode for displaying a search form for searching image keywords, etc. Checkout the Shortcode section on the FAQ:

    Hi Thad,

thanks for the reply... I am having a bit of a hard time getting the [sell_media_searchform] to replace my existing search form.

My existing search form is a widget located in the top_footer (footer.php) of my site.

What is the easiest way for me to replace this search form with the [sell_media_searchform]? and can this return the results in the form of a gallery of relevant images? not just a list of relevant posts.

Down the track I would like to add the advanced search link next to this search box that links to a advanced search page.

Thanks for all your help.... this plugin is really awesome!!

    this plugin is really awesome
! We're really trying to add as much awesome as we can.

Regarding your question, it won't necessarily replace your existing search form. The sell_media_searchform will only show up on Pages that you created in the WordPress Admin, which have the short code in the editor.

Came across this thread looking for something similar to the OP.

If I already have pages set up with galleries of stock images, is it possible to use the existing pages in conjunction with this plugin or will I be required to set up new pages/collections specific to the Sell Media plugin?

Could I, for example, simply use the searchform shortcode on an existing page with a gallery?

You would have to set-up new Items for each photo you want to sell. Sell Media does have a "bulk upload feature".
