• I currently have a self-hosted WP blog working on my server. I’m in the process of autidioning a new theme for this blog, so what I’d like to do is set up a new folder that will have all of the existing blog’s content, but showing with the new theme that I can work on and tweek before going live. I’m generally pretty strong working through WP issues, but I can’t quite figure out the best route for this.

The easiest thing to do would be to use Vladimir Prelovac’s Theme Test Drive Plugin. Normal visitors will see the existing theme, but you (when logged on as admin) will see the new theme.

If you are want to work on a new version of your existing theme, make a copy of the theme directory and add a version number to the top section of the style.css or increment the number if one already exists.
