    We are using the plugin set to USPS Priority Mail only. But, the shipping rates are off by about $0.40 – $2.00. I have two questions when setting the size and weight of the products.

    1) Do we set the size to the size of the actual product or to the size of priority box we will be shipping the product in? For the weight, so we set the actual product weight or the max weight of the shipping size we will be using for that product?

    2) Our products were imported into WooCommerce. The sizes are set in metric units. USPS box sizes are in US standard (inches). Will the plugin convert for us to get the right size box?

  • @seveninstl,

    This version of the plugin is designed for small business owners. The priority box option is not available with this version. The plugin treats each product as a separate package with its own weight dimension.

    The Plus version of the plugin has this feature. Also, it has more packaging options such as Box Packing, Weight based Packing.

    Ni,

    Thank you for your response. But, I do not consider this issue “resolved” as you have marked it.

    First, if the version I have does not include priority mail, why am I able to check that option in the WooCommerse > Settings > USPS (BASIC) window? The options are not disabled; I can check them (see second image below). Next, why is “Priority Mail (USPS)” showing up on my checkout page for shipping and handling if not included (first image below)? This seems very misleading to show these options and results if the version does not include Priority Mail functionality.

    This firsts image is the checkout page showing “Priority Mail” for shipping.

    Hi @seveninstl,

    We did not get you completely.

    We can see from the screenshot that you have enabled the Priority Mail service and are getting it in the cart page.
    Can you explain the problem?

    We are using the plugin set to USPS Priority Mail. But, the shipping rates are off by about $0.40 – $2.00. (See the images for an example). I have two questions when setting the size and weight of the products.

    1) In WooCommerce product settings, do we set the size of the product to the size of the actual product or to the size of priority box we will be shipping the product in? For the weight, so we set the actual product weight or the max weight of the shipping size we will be using for that product? In other words, if your product is 4 inches X 8 inches X 1 inch, does your plugin figure out the right size shipping envelope/box for the shipment? If not, should we enter the product size as the envelope/box size to get the plugin to return the correct price?

    2) Our products were imported into WooCommerce. The sizes are set in metric units. USPS box sizes are in US standard (inches). Will the plugin convert for us to get the right size box or do we need to go through and change all sizes to US standard units?

    This image is of the WooCommerce checkout page. The plugin returns a shipping price of $6.52.
    WooCommerce and Plugin Price

    This image is from the USPS site. The size envelope that this manual would fit in is 15″ x 9-1/2″ – that price is shown as $6.95.

    In this case, they difference is not much. But, is there something we can do to get the exact shipping price returned? How is your plugin calculating its shipping price?

    Thanks.

    @seveninstl,

    I guess I should be more clear.
    Our USPS plugin works by sending the product weight and dimension details to USPS API along with origin and destination details. The API then returns the rates based on these details.

    However, The priority boxes are flat rate boxes. For flat rate boxes, The rates are fixed. it is not required to send an API request.
    The basic version does not support flat rate boxes. However, our plus version has flat rates inbuilt.

    Also, our plugin is designed to work with Metric unit. It will automatically convert into inches and pound.

    Thank you for your response.

    If the basic version does not support flat rate boxes, what is the amount that is being returned “Priority Mail (USPS) $6.52” in the screenshot from WordPress above? Where does it get that amount? What is that amount?

    Thank you.

    @seveninstl,

    Priority Mail service support shipping normal packages as well flat rate services. The plugin shows the rate returned from USPS API for the product according to the weight and dimension.

    Thank you. That answers all my questions. I will be encouraging my client to purchase the Pro version to get everything they want. But, if they choose not to at this time, at least I can explain where the amounts are coming from and how they are determined.

    Again – Thank you!
