setting minimum width on fluid template

Hi all. I am using the template Stardust v1.0 by Tommaso Baldovino. I really like this template I want to set a minimum width however for the main culumn (the one that holds the articles), to, let’s say 800 px.

I have searched on the forums here and I did find some tips and tricks but after experimenting I did not get the desired result. I set the width from 100% to 800px in the container, but no result.

Your help is appreciated.
