set_time_limit in wp-config no longer works with WP 4.5.1

I have used set_time_limit(300); in wp-config file succesfully until this update. Now my time limit shows 0, and my wp-config setting has no effect anymore.

I have no access to php.ini, and trying to fix this in htaccess just results in 500 error.
