Hi – I have set up groups of testimonials with different categories and tags so that different testimonials will load on separate pages.
Even though I use the category identifier and tag identifier, the widget pulls through testimonials of different categories on a page.
Hope you can help…
Can you please provide URL to review?
Can you please also copy and paste the shortcodes used with an extra [ and ] so that I can view them?
I’ve tested the latest release using shortcode options
category. No issues found.
Are you using shortcodes like the following?
[testimonialswidget_list category=product] [testimonialswidget_list tags="test,fun"]
Hi Michael and thanks for your prompt replies. Apologies for my slow response, been offline for a few hours here in the mountains.
The URL of the specific page is http://activeataltitude.com/camps/womens-running-camps-2013/
The testimonials in blue text were created with the category “womens camps”, and the tag “womens running camps” – the testimonials in plain text color were created with the category “trail running” and tag “trail running camps”
My knowledge of WP is pretty limited, so I haven’t used any shortcodes that I am aware of.
One thing I have noticed is that when I insert a category or tag into the widget, whatever I enter isn’t saved.
Your plug in is amazing and I suspect it’s user error here!
I’m figuring then that for the category and tag selection, you’re doing selection criteria through the widgets option panel. Since your input doesn’t save, then you’re using real names than category and tag slug names like “womens-camps” versus real name like “Womens Camps”.
Per the option field description, use slug names and you’ll be fine.
Thank you for the reply.
I had heard the term slug names and wondered what that was.
I am indeed entering selection criteria through the widget option panel.
I used the slug names that you suggested and that still doesn’t save in the option fields when I click on save…
…and the testimonials are still pulling from various sources rather than a specified source.
Sorry – any other thoughts?
Have you tried one category slug name at a time to see if they save?
Then, after one saves correctly, did you add a comma and then another category slug?
Worst case, please see the support email at the bottom of http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/testimonials-widget/ to send login detail.
Lastly, are you using the latest version?
Cracked it! Using the slug names you suggested, it works fine now.
I also realized that I had been using suggestions too literally, and had been trying to include “….” as well.
Like I said, user error!
Thanks for your patience – have updated to the new version too…
Have a great Christmas!
