    Hi to all forum users,

I just installed wordpress into my server. Everything runs ok but i would like to set the blog to private for a certain group of registered users.

I know you can do this when you open a blog like example.wordpress.com instead of installing wordpress into a server.

I couldnt find the way to do it and the option is not in the same place where it is in the example.wordpress.com.

Is it possible to fix it, how can i do it?

I searched in the forum and saw someone asking the same a month ago but there were no any replies. wordpress.org/support/topic/156050

    Thank you for your help.

Depends on what type of privacy you are looking for. You can hide your site from search engines etc., by clicking on Settings, then Privacy. If you want to password protect your site you can do so using the .htaccess and .htpasswd files (Or something similar depending on the server structure), there might also be a plugin which allows you to do that: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/

Ok, after reading the other guy's post, I realize it was the password you were looking for. This information will show you how to password protect a site with .htaccess and .htpasswd: http://www.techiecorner.com/94/password-protect-directory-with-htaccess-and-htpasswd/
Of course it is quite a bit easier if your host has a control panel which has the ability to password protect a directory built right into a nice little tool.

Thank you very much for your quick response.

I found what i was looking for in the plugin directory. By Using this 2 plugins:

    Members Only

    Private WP

it is possible to set the blog to private (only viewable to visitors that are logged in) perfect for closed community sites.

    Thanks a lot
