Support » Plugin: ARI Fancy Lightbox - WordPress Popup » Set full image size

  • Thank you for this excellent plugin.

Is there a way to make the full image that comes up once a thumbnail is clicked be set to specific thumbnail size in the theme or back-end?

The problem is, some users upload massive images many megabytes in size and it takes a few seconds to load and cycle between a gallery of images on slower connections.

If we could set the full size image to be a specific (limited) size it would cut down on the bandwidth usage and offer a better user experience.

    Thank you.

    Hi

We can modify the plugin and use values from “srcset” attribute for tag to show different images into the lightbox depends on width of browser’s window. Is it suitable solution?

Yeah, either way, but that sounds even better. Just need to avoid lightboxing the full size image when that image is excessively large.

Look forward to any solution on this!

“ARI Fancy Lightbox” v. 1.2.0 supports this feature. It is enabled automatically.

Hmm, I tested out the new version and I don’t really see any difference with the html code.

When clicking on the image and zooming out, however, the zoom out animation appears to shake. It’s much more jerky. Version 1.1.7 on the other hand has it’s zoom out animation as smooth as silk.

    Don’t know what caused this.

The plugin doesn’t change HTML code. It uses value of “srcset” attribute if it is defined in tag to show an appropriate image depends on current browser’s window width. For example native WordPress gallery adds this attribute.

About animation, v. 1.2.0 contains “Animation effect” and “Transition effect” parameters. See “Lightbox” tab on “ARI Fancy Lightbox -> Settings” page.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I’ve been using native WordPress galleries for this all along.

Testing out the new version and opening the network tab of chrome developer tools, gigantic images still load in full when clicked on. I don’t see a difference.

It’s not a huge deal for me anymore since I found the Imsanity plugin, but for others maybe.

As for the animation, it doesn’t matter what settings I choose, the zoom affect is still jerky unlike it was before. This is a big deal to me.

It’s most noticeable for me on my 1080p screen. Hope you’re able to reproduce.
