In wordpress dashboard-media library, I find all the medias including featured images uploaded from front-end post are uploaded to “Auto Draft” instead of the corresponding “post-name”. Maybe this is reason why Featured images cannot be published to front-end?

The featured image works, you need to select and then save the post.
Hi Checked a bit more into this, and the reason why the image is uploaded to “Auto Draft”, is that when you create a post, wp creates a auto-draft.
And this is not working as it should, as two auto-drafts are created, and the image is attached to the first one – I need some more time to look into this.
In the admin-module there is more control over the screen updates and such, as there is no widgets, and other active (and sometime conflicting) elements on the screen, as on the front end.
This also why I try to avoid custom javascript, jquery and such where I can.

Found the error (has been there too long!) and fixed.
Needs to do some testing, before I release it (has been updated in development version/trunk)
Only thing I havent been able to fix is that the user needs to press save to see the featured image – Can possibly be solved with java script, but that is not my strongest side.

Although I don’t understand how to press save to see the featured image. I try all “save”, “save and published” “save and preview” and doesn’t work.

Ok, works for me in 2.0.4, but wait a couple of day, and see if it works when i release it
I have updated to 2.0.7 and still don’t know how to “save” to set feather image. Could you kindly describe the way in more detail? Many thanks!
