sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have looked all over and not found the answer. My emails are getting sent fine, but my help desk system rejects them because the 'from' address is my own email address.

How can I set the 'from' address to be the email address that the client types into the form please?

update- the 'reply to' address is being set correctly, but the 'from' address seems to be grabbed from my hosting account setup?

    More info-
    1. this used to work properly, looks like an update has broken it
    2. according to the wordpress codex, if you use wp_mail it should be relatively easy to set the 'from' address. True, I don't know how to do it, but I'd be really keen to get it working

    Please help?

I'm desperate to get this fixed or to understand the problem a bit more. Is anybody able to point me in the right direction please?

The way the From address is set depends on what email is set in the admin. If your admin email matches the domain, it'll use it as the From email address. If not, it'll make an email that matches the domain.

This is exact behavior as what wp_mail performs behind the scenes. I just take over beforehand to set the values from the database.

You may have better luck by configuring the WP Mail SMTP plugin.

    Thank you Matthew,
I will investigate. I was hoping I wouldn't need another plugin as it was working previously but I guess you can't stop progress!
