Set default user notifications for status change

  • In our workflow, once a post has been edited, it get’s marked “Needs SEO” and goes to me. Instead of the editor having to manually choose me to be notified once she changes the post status, it would be useful if that could be set automatically. In other words, whenever the post status is changed to “Needs SEO,” I’m automatically notified. Basically setting a default user group for each status.

It would also be great to do it all in one fell swoop. Right now the editor has to first select me to be notified, then save the post, then change the post status and save again! Basically just notify me whenever a post status is SET to “Needs SEO” instead of when it changes.

  • I was curious about this also. We have a group who needs to receive emails anytime a new page is published, but they are not necessarily administrators as far as the WP roles are concerned. Right now they are in a group “Content Administrators” but people must select that group for notification each time they create a new page.

Try checking out this thread for instructions on sending email notifications based on custom status. You’ll need to do a little code tweaking and be able to add it to your theme’s functions.php file.
