# Set Default Search

 * Hello,
 * I was wondering if it’s possible to allow the frontend search to default to a
   specific field. For example, if people usually search for a “name” but sometimes
   search for a “phone number”, could I allow the search box to have “name” as the
   default field and still allow users to select other fields if they need to search
   for something else?

 * Yes, there is a “default_search_field” attribute you can use to determine which
   field is selected by default…for example:
 * `[pdb_list search=true default_search_field=name ]`
 * Note that this must be the “name” of the field, not its title.
