[resolved] Set "Checked by default" to R - not Y (9 posts)

    How can I have checked by default to R?
    Acutally I don't even need Y option - R by default without a checkbox would be a fine default behaviour.

    It's okay if the checkbox stays - but the default should really be R not Y.

    Else too many users might after some time - receiving many emails they are not interested in - send the emails to spam.

    Also a hack would be fine for a start.

    The default of setting N is not good either - because many people simply don't notice that they need to check the box, but the are expecting reply by mail...

    Not sure if this hack is correct

    			$checkbox_field = "<select name='subscribe-reloaded' id='subscribe-reloaded'>
    				<option value='none'>".__("Don't subscribe",'subscribe-reloaded')."</option>
    				<option value='yes'>".__('All','subscribe-reloaded')."</option>
    				<option value='replies'".((get_option('subscribe_reloaded_checked_by_default', 'no') == 'yes')?" selected='selected'":'').">".__('Replies to my comments','subscribe-reloaded')."</option>
    				<!-- option value='digest'>".__('Daily digest','subscribe-reloaded')."</option -->

    okay - it worked.
    Took it from here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-subscribe-to-comments-reloaded-replies-only-checked-by-default?replies=6

    but wasn't sure if the way I did it was correct...

    Settings - Subscribe to Comments - Comment Form - Custom HTML ->

    <p><label for='subscribe-reloaded'><input style='width:30px' type='checkbox' name='subscribe-reloaded' id='subscribe-reloaded' value='replies' checked='checked' /> [checkbox_label]</label></p>

    Yes, this will be a plugin option since I have seen a few users trying to work this out.

    @all I created a fork of this plugin called WP Comment Subscriptions that includes many bug fixes and several new features, including most recently an option to select a default Advanced subscription option:

    New 'default subscription type' Option. If you're using Advanced subscriptions, you can now specify the Advanced default subscription type ("None", "All new comments", or "Replies to this comment") in Settings -> Comment Subscriptions -> Comment Form -> Advanced default. This will be the default option shown on the comment form. See: https://github.com/raamdev/wp-comment-subscriptions/issues/6

    WP Comment Subscriptions imports all data and options from Subscribe to Comments Reloaded, so you can easily try it out. :)

    See: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-comment-subscriptions/changelog/
