I would like to know how to set up my blog posts in summary ‘Read more’ format with a photo, like the format on your demo site.

    You mean like this:

    Blog Demo

That is done by adding a photo with the “Featured Image” function when you have your post open in your editor.

That doesn’t work…it still shows the entire post.

As well, I want the featured image to show in both the summary and post, but when selecting the image as just featured, it does not show in the post, and if I add the image to the post, then both images are displayed.

To split a post in a summary, you need to ensure you use the more tag. Here are instructions to do that for WordPress:

    More Tag

For the bad news now… when I created this theme long ago, I did not add the featured image code to the full post view (I know, crazy). At the moment, you won’t get that image there.

Now for the good news…Preference Lite will soon be retired in favor of a new theme that I created based on Preference Lite. I will be releasing this new version soon (which will have the featured image on the full post view). For the most part, the new theme will look very similar to Preference Lite, but will have much better features and flexibility.

This worked! Thanks…I look forward to the new version!

Good to hear…but the big question is, should this topic be set as “Resolved”?

When you release that new version…will I be able to switch from the Preference Lite without losing the customization? Does it look the same, overall? Because I am just getting ready to launch the site I am working on in the coming weeks. When do you plan to release? (ballpark – I realize these things never happen on time)

Unfortunately how WordPress works, is that whenever you install and activate a new theme, it sees it as a new theme and therefore, yes, you will have to redo your theme options, widgets, etc. The new version will be quite different with everything, but at first glance, it will look similar to the current Preference lite…background and the centered content area with the rounded corner menu and the logo top middle. Everything else will be new to the theme. Ballpark release is probably a couple weeks, but it also means waiting for the WP review team to review it and approve it and then release it as a new theme at wordpress.org
