I have a client that has 3 sites. Two of them are retail and one of them is wholesale. They all carry the same products, so the majority of the media files are the same on all 3 sites.

To save drive space and effort on my part, is it possible to use this plugin and have the 3 sites share one media Google Bucket?

A multisite set up will not work for me due to the tools i’m using.

    Yes.

The best way to avoid confusion is to set the “Root Directory” option under Settings > Media. That directory is the base directory in the GCS bucket for this site. So, each site can have its own base-directory/prefix by setting that field.

It’s worth nothing that you could also enable the “Randomize the filename of newly uploaded media files.” option and all uploaded files will be prefixed with a random hash, allowing you to store all of your upload directories in one bucket and being assured that the odds of having duplicate filenames is near infinite.

Thank you for the rapid response, but I think you may have misunderstood the question. Since I have the same media on all 3 sites, what I want is this:

    Files in GCS bucket:
    media1
    media2
    media3
    media4
    media5
    media6
    .
    .
    .

    Site 1 has media1, media2, media3, media6
    site 2 has media1, media2, media3
    Site 3 has media1, media2, media3, media 4

That way i only have 1 copy each file, but multiple sites can use them. In effect, each site would have the same base directory, right?

    Hello @bearcatsandor

Sorry for the delay. It seems that is not possible at the moment.

    Regards.

Is there a way to use a wildcard of some kind in that root directory field so that each sub-site of a multi-site has its own folder (i.e., root directory name = subdomain name) but without having to configure one-by-one.

@eureka345 not at the moment, but that is a neat idea! I logged your idea on github at https://github.com/wpCloud/wp-stateless/issues/149
