Server stops working while using AIOWPS

    Dear support team,

    since around 1 week I am facing the issue of server stops working (httpd and mysql) in evening time around 6 p.m. local time. I am only able to solve by rebooting server on a daily basis.

    While checking the error log I found a lot of info. Please use this excerpt for your investigation:

    Hi, what type of server is your site hosted in? Can you provide some server specifications?

    Hi @wci,
    Looks like you have a multisite setup is that right?
    Seems like your issue occurs when the aiowps captcha feature tries to set a transient. This is strange because I’ve never seen this problem before. Are there any other useful logs on your server which might shed more light?

    If I am reading your log correctly, it looks like it might be coming from a captcha in one of your widgets called “geodir_loginwidget”. Do you know what that is? Did you add this widget recently?

    I guess as a temporary action you can prevent this by deactivating the aiowps captcha feature.

    Hi, yes it is a multisite with following hard-/software in use

    As our system configuration we use
    • as Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-3930
    2x HDD 3,0 TB SATA
    8x RAM 8192 MB DDR3

    • as Software:
    we use linux and
    CENTOS 7.4 standard
    cpanel vers. v68.0.17
    please check our php info

    about geodir_loginwidget
    we are using the wpgeodirectory plugin which provide a chield theme and we had no problems with this since 1 week. Could be after an update form GD itself or update for AIOWPS – not sure. If I deactivate AIOWPS then server works stable.

    Let me know how to proceed and help with your investigation?

    Was the captcha feature enabled for a long time or did you recently enable it?

    There haven’t really been any code changes recently that affect the captcha form transients.
    Regarding the GD plugin – did you add the widget from that plugin recently or was it always there even before this issue?

    If you can afford to do it, you could try reverting the GD plugin to the version which was active at the time when things were stable and then let that soak for a day or two and check if the same things occurs again.

    Hi again,

    I have changed some settings within AIOWPS but cannot remember which they was. Because did not had this trouble before. GD downgrade was the first solution I have tried but has not helped in this case.

    Let me check with deactivation of the captcha. Where am I able to find this setting?

    For captcha settings on login form look in the Brute Force menu.

    ok – thanks.

    Currently it seems to work without I made any changes. Let me report tomorrow, after server has worked proper whole day/night as well.

    Hi – not sure why but its now working stable without issues so I guess this was resolved be de-/reactivation of all plugins one by one and finally to activate AIOWPS at last plugin.
