 * Our website is on a vps and emails aren’t going through. I contacted Godaddy
   who said this:
 * “You need to use the relays according to the server. You have the US west server
   and the dedrelay.secureserver.net is the SMTP Relay Server for your VPS now you
   need to figure out where you define the server relay in WHM. Please use GoDaddy
   SMTP relays settings and check with the SMTP plugin developer.”
 * I’m lost……I know how to get to root user in putty but I have no idea if I even
   have to or what I’m supposed to be entering and where. Is anyone able to help?

 * Hi there [@imagine2006](https://wordpress.org/support/users/imagine2006/),
 * We can’t advise on WHM setup, but to connect WP Mail SMTP to the U.S. West relay
   server, you would need to use the Other SMTP mailer. In your settings, add this
   to the Host:
 * dedrelay.secureserver.net
 * Unfortunately, that’s where GoDaddy’s information stops: [https://au.godaddy.com/help/find-the-smtp-relay-server-for-my-gen-4-vps-24736](https://au.godaddy.com/help/find-the-smtp-relay-server-for-my-gen-4-vps-24736)
 * From what we’ve seen with other relays, you may be need to turn authentication
   off. Additionally, you may need to try each of the ports listed, since their
   document doesn’t say which you will need to use.
 * I hope that helps! Have a great day!

 * Thanks. I tried all of the ports and none of them worked. Emails keep failing

 * Hi there [@imagine2006](https://wordpress.org/support/users/imagine2006/),
 * Try sending a test email from within WP Mail SMTP:
 * [https://wpmailsmtp.com/docs/how-to-send-a-test-email-in-wp-mail-smtp/](https://wpmailsmtp.com/docs/how-to-send-a-test-email-in-wp-mail-smtp/)
 * When you do, if the email fails, you should receive a more verbose error message
   that provides additional details on what happened when the email attempt occurred.
   If you can share that message with us here, that may help us get you pointed
   in the right direction.
 * Thanks!
