Server not running PHP?

    I just uploaded WordPress to my control panel in Laughing Squid and it will not let me run the installation file. The filepath that I have is:

    wp-admin/install.php

    This is the error message that I get:

    WordPress requires that your web server is running PHP. Your server does not have PHP installed, or PHP is turned off.

    How do I fix this?

    Contact your hosting provider.

    You need to contact your hosting provider and make sure the server meets WordPress’ requirements. Here’s a link to the requirements:

    You know what, you guys should not be advertising that Laughing Squid offers easy installation of WordPress. I have been trying to install it for two days now and all I get from their tech support are canned answers. I followed their tutorial and it led to a dead end. So one or the other is going to go, either Laughing Squid or WordPress because I am trying to start a business and I don’t have two days to throw away.

    This is a community forum, while we are all WordPress users, we’re just that. We offer help because we believe in the product. We’re no different than you. The issue seems to NOT be with WordPress but your server. What “canned” responses have they given you? What is their explanation of the error? What version of PHP are you running on the server? I hope this helps!

    Laughing Squid is listed on the official WordPress Web Hosting page: http://wordpress.org/hosting/

    As such, there is an official complaint channel that looks quite promising in terms of addressing your (dreamsong’s) issues:

    It could be an isolated error with the hosting provider. However, contacting them to resolve it needs to be your first step. Posting a complaint about a hosting provider, while is an option, still does not resolve your issue and does not give your hosting provider an opportunity to resolve the issue for you.

    My advice to you is be patient, most hosts are more than willing to work with you to resolve issues. If you are unhappy with their services, review your contract to see if you can be refunded your money and move to a different host.
