I have been trying to set up WordPress on my site that uses Cpanel. We have created the MySQL database, username and password. I have entered the correct information, but when it tells me to install it, it either gives me a blank page(Firefox) or it gives me the following error in Chrome:
The website encountered an error while retrieving http://playdave.com/Real/wp-admin/install.php. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
I have checked to make sure the server is up and running. Cpanel shows everything is up and working.
The only thing that I can think of is that we might have to use something other than “localhost,” but I’m not sure what.
Is there something I am overlooking? Does the installation need to be in the root directory? As you can see, I have the whole site in a sub-directory. I’ve been told that shouldn’t matter, but I feel I am close and it’s just some silly little mistake somewhere.
