 * I decided to buy virtual dedicated server when the normal shared hosting from
   GoDaddy had a latency of even 15 seconds (sometimes the loading timed out).
 * I’ve already updated the PHP version, created a database, a user for the database,
   established an FTP connection, uploaded wordpress to the server, and sent a thousand
   questions to their customer service.
 * The problem is this:
 * I can start the install process as usual. Everything goes fine until the automated
   install should create the wp-config.php file.
 * It says it’s unable to create it and that I should create it myself (copy-paste
   from the installer) and upload it to the server. And then click “Run the install”.
 * When I do all that I get a blank page. There’s no content at all anywhere.
 * I’ve read through a dozen threads about blank screens, but either I haven’t understood
   a word of the explanation or I’ve already tried what people have previously suggested.
 * So, could someone help?
 * The blog (affectselling.com) is currently offline and I’d like to get it back
   online as fast as I can!

 * Do you not have wp-config-sample.php?
 * If not, what is the code in your current wp-config.php file? (Obviously don’t
   paste your login details)

 * …and as an aside, godaddy specializes in domains – their hosting support is crappy,
   so perhaps consider going with a service specializing in hosting. (hostgator
   is good and affordable).
 * To expand BR’s question…and did you change wp_config-sample.php to wp_config.
   php? Double check that the database username and password are correctly input?
   That would be on wordpress’ side, and something warping out during upload…and
   if it’s not that, then it’s on godaddy’s side and good luck getting them on the
   ball…

 * I got it working now 🙂
 * I had done what the install process told me to do: Create a wp-config.php file
   and upload it. Now I did what you said and only changed the sample version and
   suddenly it started working.
 * Thank you so much for the help!
 * Can someone explain why it started working?

 * Basically it was the wrong file path to the config file – it was looking for
   wp_config.php, so it wasn’t acknowledging the one with sample in the name 😉
