Hi, I want to be able to use an separate SQL table for the events that display in The Events Calendar on my page. I’ve tried looking for the location in the code where the calendar is making a SQL query to wp_posts, wp_postmeta, etc. but I can’t find it in the-events-calendar.class.php. Where could I look to find and edit this code so my Calendar is pulling events from my database?

Any other information that could be useful would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Matthew

  • Hi Matthew,

I’m afraid we can’t help you with a change on this scale. Can I ask what your primary motivation is in wanting to do this?

    Thanks!

    Hi Barry,

We created a SQL database of over 500 events to use for our site and rather than plugging each one into the Events Calendar separately, we’d like to just use the database as the source for our events. We’ll be using this db for multiple uses on our site beyond the Calendar and would like to keep it in one place and draw from that.

    Best,
    Matthew

I see – interesting idea. For what it’s worth, I think if you’re to successfully integrate The Events Calendar into this sort of workflow it would be a matter of syncing event posts in the WP database with your external source, rather than trying to force The Events Calendar to pull directly from the external source.

I’m afraid though this is way beyond the scope of support we can offer here and all I can really do is wish you luck 🙂
