SeoPress Install

    Hi,

    I’m a pretty new user of this stuff. My blog is at http://jobs.localjobs.com and I have the following questions.

    1. Where you say If you use Buddypress:
    “Be sure that the main Blog header template uses bp_page_title() instead of wp_title() function.”….Can you please tell me EXACTLY what file this is, where it’s located and on what line I’m making this change”…..sorry, again I’m a newbie here.

    2. Once I install and network activate the new SeoPress product….I then have Deactivated the prior version Seo for Buddypress. Should I just now delete this older plugin, or is it necessary to keep any of the files/db from this app?

    Thanks,

    Brian

    Hi,
    I can not tell you a line number, because every theme is different.
    But the template files are under wp_content/themes/”yourtheme”.
    In the main blog theme folder is a header.php, there must exist
    <title> <?php bp_page_title() ?> </title>
    In the user blog theme header.php, must exist
    <title> <?php wp_title(); ?> < /title>

    hope that helps you

    Thanks Sven,

    Do I delete the old plug-in once the new one is activated (which it is now).

    Also, will your code recommend fix the main blog title tag which is currently pulling the new post title?

    Thanks.

    if you press delete seo for buddypress, you will delete all settings too.
    Just deactivate the plugin, and then delete it from ftp

    Thanks. You may want to post that on your GENERAL SEO ‘Settings’ page where you have noted DELETE SEO FOR BUDDYPRESS. I would think most users who have spent some time in configuring the initial SEO for BuddyPress will probably want to keep their settings if possible.

    On another note…I’ve seen on more than a few occassions where the TITLE setting has a bunch of extra “////////” in it. For example – may say for Profile blog title: %%displayname%%\\\\\\\\\\\\’s Selected Blogs on %%sitename%% – this ends up showing exactly that on the page title (not good). They can be manually removed, but may want to take it out on your end for next version.

    And finally – am I to understand that your product also creates a Google Sitemap (or was that another product I was evaluating at some point)? Please advise. Thanks.

    Hi topracer6969,

    Thanks for your feedback, new version 1.0.3 will fix the slash bug.
    Also I changed “DELETE SEO FOR BUDDYPRESS” to “Delete SeoPress” and added a javascript alert to make it more secure.

    Sitemap is a great idea, thinking about it for future releases.

    Sven
