Hi all, so I wanted to ask something hopefully who is expert will answer. In Homepage I have set title and meta descriptiin in Yoast section also an keypharse. Then title of Homepage is added at “Tagline” at site identity which is at WordPress Customization. It is good or bad for google & bing ? In the link below you will find 2 screenshots of what I mean:

  • Hi @fselmani ,

We understand you want to know if you can use the same Site Title as your Tagline and how it will affect your ranking on Google/Bing.

Your question is a bit outside the scope of our support. Giving SEO advice, in most cases, requires a deep analysis of your site to provide accurate advice for your specific setup, even for what may seem to be a simple question. We love to help you with all questions related to our products, but in this specific case, it’s really SEO advice you are looking for.

What we do know is that Site titles and taglines are two different things. So you might want to check these articles to get an idea of how you can optimize/use both of them to your advantage.

Hi, I just wanted to know if I should add title in site identity in wp customization or is enough if I put title at homepage in yoast seo settings?

@fselmani The ‘Site Title’ that you can set in Appearance>Customize>Size Identity is also set in WordPress under Settings>General for ‘Site Title.’

‘Site Title’ is different from the <title>tag of a page. ‘Site Title’ is typically visually display on a site, although that can vary depending on the theme. When you set the value for ‘SEO Title’ in the Yoast metabox you are actually setting the value for the <title> tag for that page. The <title> tag is what is typically displayed for the link to the page in Google’s search results, or what a browser tab is titled for a user, for example.

That being said, we would recommend setting a value for both the ‘Site Title’ as well as the ‘SEO Title‘ setting in Yoast SEO, as the ‘SEO Title’ value is what is used for the <title> tag.
