I’ve noticed that the progress indicator for the SEO Title of our homepage when in the post edit screen is showing green, and is about three quarters full.

I’m using placeholders e.g. Title, Page, Separator, Site title. This is outputting ‘Psychic Readings & Clairvoyants at Nirvana Light – Nirvana Light’.

So far as Yoast is concerned, in the page editor, the length of this is fine. (Putting aside the duplication of ‘Nirvana Light’).

However, I then went to https://yoast.com/tools/seo-checker/ and this tells me something completely different:

Title is too long (ideal: 50-60 characters).
    Length: 64

Psychic Readings & Clairvoyants at Nirvana Light – Nirvana Light

Can someone help me realise which one I should be listening to for accuracy and guidance?

(I would upload images here but I can’t)

    Hello @leecollings,

Thanks for using Yoast SEO. Indeed, there’s a difference in the criteria used for the SEO title width assessment on the SEO checker and the plugin. The SEO checker uses checks characters while the plugin checks the pixels. You will get GREEN in the plugin if your SEO title width is between 1 px and 600 px. Please follow the feedback/assessment in the plugin since Google measures title display length in pixels, not characters.
