SEO Plugin and FB sharing through addthis plugin

I cannot get an answer to this question. I’ve posted in the addthis forum and I’m just lost and annoyed. I installed addthis and if I share in facebook, it does not share the image or excerpt from the post I selected. I installed the SEO plugin hoping it would create the requisite meta data to fix the problem. It did nothing. Now, I’m being told I need to change the permalink for each post. That seems nuts to me. Isn’t the whole point of the SEO plugin to create meta data for FB to read?? Maybe I know nothing, which is possible. But DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION OR KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING AOBUT?????
