Hi. I would like to create SEO friendly product URL’s. In the SEO Options, I set Pretty Permalinks to YES, left Permalink Base blank, and set SEO Yoast to YES. The search/filter function works fine. However, when I click on the Details page, I get an error message – page no longer exists… In the meantime, I turned OFF Pretty Permalinks so my catalog would function properly.

I have highly customized your plugin. Check out: https://edenequipment.com/pool-replacement-filter-cartridges. To access the UPC, you can click on any photo or use the search dropdown and the category will appear. Search results are displayed at https://edenequipment.com/catalog/?tags= (then the ID number). When I set Pretty Permalinks to YES, this displays correctly. The only issue is when I click on Details, the page is not found. Also, I set the slugs (ie., xls-787) in the products sections. Please advise. Thank you.

  • Hi Larchmont,

After setting Pretty Permalinks to Yes, did you re-save your permalink structure?

If you’re not sure how to do it: go to Settings->Permalinks in the left side WordPress Admin menu. Don’t change anything on this page, just scroll down and click “Save Changes”.

If that doesn’t work, we’ll need you to recreate it (i.e. make sure the pretty permalinks are set to YES…etc), then send us a link to one of the catalogue pages so we can take a look at the issue for ourselves.

Hi. I’m getting the same error. Currently, Permalinks is turned on and I re-saved the permalink structure. I tested all my links on https://edenequipment.com/pool-replacement-filter-cartridges/ and I’m getting two difference errors.

    1. Search widget – For example, enter 787 in the search box. The overview displays the result. However when you click on details, you get “The page you are looking for is no longer here….” The URL for this example is at https://edenequipment.com/catalogproduct/xls-787/?overview_mode=None

    2. All other links are display a messy URL (i.e., https://edenequipment.com/catalog/product/xls-442/?tags=67

    Thank you

    Hi Larchmont,

    1) If you go to your Search widget (Appearance->Widgets), can you tell us what is currently entered in “The URL of your catalogue:” textbox?

    2) Sorry, by messy URL, did you mean the ?tags=67 part of the link you posted?

    Hi.

    1. The URL for the UPCP Search Bar is https://edenequipment.com/catalog

    2. Yes I thought Pretty Permalinks would eliminate ?tags=67. Any way to clean this up for SEO?

    1. You need to put the trailing slash in the URL (as can be seen by the fact that the URL you provided [https://edenequipment.com/catalogproduct/xls-787/?overview_mode=None] is missing the slash between “catalog” and “product”). So, you should be putting this instead: https://edenequipment.com/catalog/

    2. The pretty permalinks refer to the slug of the individual product (allows you to specify a slug, instead of using the default SingleProduct=). If you are pre-loading/filtering by tag, category, etc., then it needs to have those get commands in the URL.
