 * Hi,
    I’ve been asked to do some work on a site to help boost it’s SEO performance
   although am slightly stuck on a few issues. I didn’t build the site originally
   but is basically using wordpress as a CMS and is built around wordpress pages
   as opposed to posts. The problem I have is that currently the ‘Title’ of each
   page is used to populate the page’s title, H1 tag and also the page’s link in
   the navigation, however I need all three of these to be separate so they can
   be replaced individually for the SEO.
 * If someone could advise the best way to accomplish this or at least point me
   in the right direction, that would be much appreciated.
 * Thanks!

 * Use an SEO plug-in ([search the repository](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=seo&sort=)–
   there are several to choose from) to create a distinct browser title.
 * Use a custom menu with WordPress’s [built-in menu system](http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_SubPanel)
   to create custom menu wording.

 * For page titles, use the famous ‘All-in-one SEO’ plugin:
    [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/)
 * The H1 titles will be the Page or Post titles.
 * As Zoonii says, adjust the titles in navigations through the WP3.0 menu manager(
   assuming the theme supports it).
 * That should covere everything you need.

 * Thanks for your advice guys.
    In the end I opted for doing changing the H1 tags
   using this method:
 * [http://www.getwordpressed.com/seo/h1-hack-for-wordpress-pages/](http://www.getwordpressed.com/seo/h1-hack-for-wordpress-pages/)
 * Basically this meant that for the pages with no new H1 tag, it would default
   back to using the standard title as before.
 * For the title I used SEO title tag ( [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/seo-title-tag/](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/seo-title-tag/))
   so that as with the H1, unless a new title is specified, wordpress defaults back
   to the standard page title system.
 * Once again, thanks for your help.

 * I’d also try the [Scribe SEO](http://designpx.com/go/scribe/) plugin for those
   that need help with the _what_, _why’s_ and _how_ of SEO.

 * I use a SEO plugin and it seems to take care of all the H1, H2, and H3 tags used
   for the search engines. It also helps with the title tags for each of the pages
   which has really boosted us in the search engines.
