Support » Plugin: Postman SMTP Mailer/Email Log » Send Email Test fails, but emails are sending.

  • I have an odd situation. The Send Test Email feature always says it failed. However, emails are being sent out successfully. Is there something special about the Send Test Email feature that may be blocked by my server?

    Sending the message: Failed
There is nothing in the Status box.

My site is behind CloudFlare and my server blocks certain outgoing connections except allowed by firewall rules. I have the rules set up for my SMTP server, but I think the Connection Test uses different destinations and ends up causing timeouts. I understand why that may happen, but I don’t understand why the Send Test Email doesn’t work.

    Thank you.

This is possibly caused by another plugin or theme hijacking the server response and confusing the Postman code running in the browser. Enabling Debugging in WordPress is normally how I inspect the server for NOTICE messages or WARNING messages caused by other plugins.

It’s hard to say for certainty what is causing this behaviour on your site. But I suggest trying with the default theme and disabling all plugins (temporarily) to see if I’m right.

The Connection Test uses the hostname you supply for port 25, 465 and 587. It uses googleapis.com for port 443.
