Support » Plugin: Related Posts for WordPress » Selected a Related Post I’d forgotten about (a good thing)

  • I have a really dusty blog that I use to very occasionally post things. I’ve been on it just now and noticed that I had 2 related posts plugins installed and running. I think I meant to compare the 2 and then decide. Which I forgot to do.

So what did I do? Installed a 3rd such plugin and did a quick comparison. For some reason, the Related Posts for WordPress was not displaying thumbnails. But out of the 3, it pulled up the most related post to go with the new post. I’d forgotten I even published it. Which is a great thing. It did exactly what I needed it to do.

The other 2 plugins did not pull up this post as a related post.

To troubleshoot the no-thumbnail problem, I went to the much older post to see that I had not appointed a featured image. Once I did that, I saw the related thumbnails appear. Problem solved.

It seems – with my theme – that in order for Related Posts for WordPress to display thumbnails for all – you have to make sure that you use a Featured Image for every post so that the plugin will work correctly. Even lacking just 1 Featured Image means that the thumbnails won’t work.

    I’m entirely okay with that.
