 * Hi, unfortunately not at the moment. The Datepicker currently defaults to the
   current date but it does not populate the field. I’ll add this to our feature
   requests though.

 * I was able to populate the default date field via plugin folder > inc > widget-
   frontend.php, designating the value for the `<input name="startDate">` element
