Select page template for posts

I’m sure this must be ultra simple. I simply want the same functionality in the admin for posts as pages. So when I write or manage a post I can select a page template. Please someone help I’ve trawled the net for a solution to no avail. My programming skills are inferior to say the least. Any help is appreciated!
