Support » Everything else WordPress » Select file to upload shows non-existent folders

  • I have WordPress installed on my website through my Web Hosting provider. Lately (not sure if this started after the most recent update), when I choose to upload an image from my computer’s Desktop to insert into a post, the File Open dialog window shows a bunch of other folders on the Desktop that I had physically moved to My Documents some time ago. If I open one of those displayed “folders”, it’s empty.
WordPress is the ONLY application that I’m having this kind of issue with. It’s cluttering up the File Open dialog with non-existent folders and making it harder to find what I want. I’ve tried refreshing the Desktop, emptying my Trash, deleting cache, etc. Nothing works.
Has anyone else seen this weird behavior and is there a way to make it stop?

I tried this on my other computer. I created a folder on the Desktop, put a few files in it. Then I moved the folder/files to My Documents. I logged into WordPress and started a page, then selected to insert a picture. In this instance, the moved folder did not display in the File Open dialog, but system and hidden files DID! Yikes!
