Support » Theme: Sela » Sela theme different in HostGator

  • Resolved Larry Kutcher

I have a free blog and use the theme Sela.
I just set up a HostGator website using the WordPress platform to build my website.
I activated the Sela theme there and it is not the same. Several features and customizing options are missing. Is there a difference between using Sela in these two contexts? Are there two different versions of Sela? I’m really disappointed, as I wanted to use the Sela theme to build my website.

  • Hi Larry,

Jetpack needs to be installed to add some of the features to the self-hosted version of the theme.

How to set up the self-hosted version of Sela:

If there’s something specific you can’t find, please let me know.

    I hope this helps 🙂

Noting as well, even with Jetpack there are still a few features that are unique to, such as the color customizer. You’d be welcome to use the customizer on your free WordPress site though, then copy the CSS over to your installation.

Hello, thank you. I am somewhat new to this, so forgive me for asking for a clarification. Just how do I get the CSS code from my free WordPress Site and then you say copy to my installation in my free hosted version of Sela. Can you be more specific of how to do that as well? I’m so very new to WordPress. Only using it for two weeks.

Hi Larry, could you please share how you were able to change the color of the main menu bar? I’m having the same issue. Thanks!
