Sela in Swedish

    Hi there!
    I wish to have the text “Continue reading” in Swedish, and I contributed to the translation process in order to achieve that. I am wondering how long it will take for my suggestions to be overviewed and by that, the language settings to be updated?

    Hi Linnea, I can see that you’ve translated some strings here, but there are still 30 untranslated:
    https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-themes/sela/sv/default

    I don’t think that’s enough for the translations to go live on WordPress.org. If you want to finish up the translation, you could then ask a Swedish validator to approve them in the WordPress.org Slack #polyglots channel.

    An alternative route could be to download the translation from WordPress.com GlotPress instead:

    https://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/themes/sela/sv/default/

    1. From the dropdown menu at the bottom left, choose the .mo file format option, and click Export to download the Sela translation file and save it on your hard drive.
    3. Rename the file sela-sv_SV.mo on your hard drive.
    4. Upload the file to your site in this spot in your WordPress install:
    /wp-content/languages/themes/sela-sv_SV.mo

    I think you could check the Swedish team page and then try pinging one of the Locale Managers or General Translation Editors in Slack, in the #polyglots channel.

    But I think themes need to be translated at 100% in order to go live on WordPress.org. The Swedish version of Sela is still missing some translations at the moment, which you can see here:

    So even if a validator approved the pending ones, the translations still wouldn’t go live – so the other route I suggested might be faster!

    Hi Linnea,

    I’m one of two main coordinators for translations of WordPress.org to Swedish. We have some 30000 waiting strings. In other words, unfortunately, if someone submits some proposed strings, we wouldn’t even notice, unless someone (perhaps the same person) lets us know about it.
    And even then: As much as possible, we need to delegate.
    So I’ll have a look at your contribution. If it looks fine, then I can make YOU the editor for the Swedish translation and you’ll be able to validate translations and edit them.

    Oh, for themes and plugins a translation will normally go live in 30 minutes, once 95% has been translated (and approved…)

    Excellent, thanks for making that clear, I was never sure what the threshold was and when it would go live. Very helpful to know!
