• Hi everyone,

I am looking for ppl’s advices/opinions as to an effective SPAM filter. What’s your favorite, why, etc?

Also, here is a question about Spam Karma:

I used Spam Karma for over a year, and it was just wonderful. However in the last few weeks it has started blocking off comments from friends who have then emailed me about it – and there was definitely nothing wrong in their comments.

There are in particular 2 friends who get systematically knocked back if Spam Karma is activated, but as soon as I de-activate it, their comments make it fine.

I have never touched a single setting of Spam Karma – it looks way over the top for my ignorant self. So I am puzzled as to why it used to let these 2 friends in just fine and it’s now blocking them off systematically.

Should I uninstall it then reinstall it? Any other suggestion to make it behave properly again? And if not, any other good anti-SPAM plug-ins you’d recommend?

I use Bad Behavior and Akismet. Spam Karma seemed too complex so I didn’t bother with it.

Bad Behavior has zero configuration. Automated comments (most spam) just gets blocked. Works incredibly well.

Akismet has some minor configuration, and the servers learn when you tag comments as spam or not. Plus, since it’s a centralized system, you get the benefit of all other Akismet users as well.
