I'd like to create a blog that only my family and I can read and comment in. I can't figure out how to set the system so all that's seen at first is either the front page or a log in page. Any way to do that with the free version?
    Thanks

    Here's you solution http://wordpress.org/plugins/password-protected/ :)

It does not require the user to 'login'. It simply does not let the visitor 'pass go' without the password.

    Hi Keith
Thanks for the try but nope. At least not according to the insert I read on that page. It appears to be an update post: "Please note, this plugin does not currently work with WP Engine hosting due to their page caching implementation."

All I want to do is lock the content with password protection so that only my family and friends can read it. If it was on my own domain I'd simply write an .htaccess file and throw it in my root directory.

Wow! If this works the way it's described it's dead-on what I'm looking for. esmi... thank you. I'll give it a try today.
